Beijing, 7 Apr (EFE).-the countries of Ecuador and China signed a memorandum of understanding that facilitates bilateral cooperation in the field of animal, plant health and quarantine inspection and promotes and strengthens the exchanges between the two Nations.

“This Memorandum allows us work together in streamlining procedures for the approval of sanitary requirements between the two countries, thereby promoting the entry of Ecuadorian products in China,” explained the director general of the Agency Ecuadorian of quality assurance (AGROCALIDAD), Luis Valverde.

Ambassador of the South American country in China, Leonardo Arízaga, stressed that “Every day Ecuador deepens its relationship with China, makes concrete results working visits and subscribes to new understandings of mutual benefits”.

The agreement was signed by Valverde and the Chinese Vice-Minister of the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and quarantine of China (AQSIQ), Wei Chuanzhong in Beijing.

Following the signing, the representatives of both countries talked about the products that Ecuador wants to export to the Asian giant, such as banana, mango, the pitahaya, pineapple, lemon, as well as flowers and cocoa.

In addition, AGROCALIDAD representatives had the opportunity to meet with Chinese wholesalers already importing products from the Ecuador to know its business discretion, experiences and aspirations for the future.

Ecuador is currently one of the Latin American countries where China invests more in projects such as the exploitation of oil, paraffin, Assembly of meters for electricity, cultivation of aquatic products in food industries and textiles, among others.

China exports to the South American country machinery, steel, colour television products, motorcycles, while the Latin country imports crude oil, timber, and metal for recycling.

In 2011, according to official Chinese statistics, in the non-oil trade balance, the Latin American country exported US $ 580 million and imported US $ 2,225 million. EFE
