Guatemala, 9 mar ( EFE).-the health authorities of Guatemala today confirmed the death of two men for influenza, which joined the two child deaths last week in a village in the North-West of the country by the virus H1N1, as well as 55 cases of persons suspected are infected.

The Guatemalan Minister of health, Francisco Arredondo, told reporters that the two men killed today died in the two main public hospitals in Guatemala, one of whom remained on alert yellow and quarantine since yesterday.

The official assured that nationally reported 55 “suspected cases” by what has been commanded to isolate patients, while laboratory tests are carried out to determine if the symptoms that are produced by the H1N1 virus.

The two dead today, a 52-year-old man and another 59, joined the two boys who died as a result of this evil last week in the Department of Zacapa.

In the national hospital of that place also have reported in recent days the deaths of other four children presenting with symptoms similar to influenza A, but laboratory tests have ruled out that children have died from this disease.

The authorities indicated that the families of the two victims of today have been isolated and subjected to treatments of Tamiflu to prevent the spread of the virus.

The first adult died the morning of Friday at the general San Juan de Dios hospital, the largest in the country, which remains on alert yellow and quarantine since Thursday, after formalize the resurgence of this disease.

Hospitals, Roberto Pérez, Guatemalan Deputy said Thursday that warning yellow decreed in this hospital is to prevent new infections and advised the population hygiene measures to avoid the spread of the disease.

Hours later died the second as a result of the same infection in hospital Roosevelt, where the authorities restricted visits and ordered a cordon.

The director of that facility, Hector Barrios, said that the deceased was in the intensive care room, and which had been medicated, but for advanced disease died this morning.

Also reported that in this hospital are admitted two others who have given positive laboratory tests, which have been isolated in.

According to the Ministry of health, influenza A in Guatemala first appeared in May 2009. EFE
