Diagnostic Imaging in pediatric ”, a practical guide for quick access to bring pediatricians Radiology and help them in the decision-making process and in the interpretation of the evidence. Now that thanks to the computerization of management systems diagnostic tests, this guide written and documented by members of this paediatric hospital radiology equipment, can be shared is shown as a very useful guidebook in the pediatric consultation.

The presented book is born on a proposal from a primary care physician. Dr. Maria Angeles Carrasco, a health center in Móstoles pediatrician, set out to write a practical guide to concrete indications of radiological testing in the field of Pediatrics. What tests to perform to certain suspicions of diagnosis, and what to expect from the interpretation of each one of them, taking into account criteria of clinical and radiological protection, are issues that arise frequently in the paediatric consultations.

With these premises, from Editorial approach were in contact with the team of the radiodiagnostic service by children’s Hospital image University child Jesus, who directs the DRA. The result is a practical manual of 95 pages, which with diagrams, images of excellent quality and summaries, discusses some of the issues that is more common in the pediatric consultation

Radiodiagnostic service of the Hospital Niño Jesús

One of the great advantages of the computerization of the radiology is to facilitate the availability of radiological evidence and its interpretation. From the month of may the evidence and reports that the child Jesus Hospital radiology service performs are available in all health centres and hospitals in the community of Madrid.

The professional team of the radiology service consists of nine physicians, more than 4 nursing, 17 technicians and 3 administrative professionals. The intense activity of this central service can be summed up in the following figures, according to the last annual balance sheet: 39,300 plain x-rays, 9,500 ultrasounds, MRIs 5,500 2,400 telerradiografias of spine and lower limbs, more 1988 TAC and around 12th interventional procedures since we have a new room installed in 2010.
