Spain, may 2012.- the Association Spanish users of telecommunications and of the information society (AUTELSI), whose purpose is the development of the information society in Spain, promoting in society in general and among users in particular, the study, investigation and dissemination objective knowledge, in those related topics, directly or indirectly, with the services of telecommunications and the information society, has given the 2012 AUTELSI Prize FIVAN Foundation in the category “Project or initiative for the development of the information society” by project “Kinect in the motor and cognitive rehabilitation of patients with acquired brain injury” in a ceremony of prizes It took place on March 1 at the Casino de Madrid. He picked up the award D. Pablo Gagliardo, Director of innovation of the FIVAN Foundation from the hand of Vodafone Foundation President D. Francisco Román.

La Fundación Instituto Valenciano de Neurorrehabilitación (FIVAN) es una entidad sin ánimo de lucro, especializada en la investigación clínica, tecnológica y en la formación específica para la neurorrehabilitación.

This project developed a system of motor and cognitive rehabilitation for patients with acquired brain damage, mostly caused by craniocerebral trauma (CCT), stroke, brain tumors, anoxias or other etiologies. The system is based on the use of natural interfaces, using the Microsoft Kinect device, and virtual reality techniques, to facilitate monitoring of the patient during the course of a rehabilitation session. The results of this project currently in use in the living waters Hospital in Carcaixent and damage brain Vinalopó in Elche downtown.

In this project have been engineers and neuropsychlogists and physiotherapists so this project is also a good example of interdisciplinary cooperation can be achieved in the health area.
