Los physiotherapists Spanish considered inconsistent results from the study of the Canary Islands health service.
-this study discourages the use of certain physical therapies in the treatment of pain
-Consider that it has the intention of discredit therapeutic techniques backed by extensive evidence, hiding the determining factor for the failure, which is the treatment not individualized and constrained by non-professional physical therapy
Madrid, February 2012.- A group of experts from the General Council of physiotherapists schools of Spain (CGCFE) the results of the study of the Canary Islands health service carried out by Francisco Kovacs considered inconsistentPedro Serrano and collaborators, and produced between the years 2004 and 2007.
These experts consider that these results do not represent the current reality of Physiotherapeutic care. According to the President of the CGCFE, José a. Martín Urrialde, “ the fact that patients were subjected to a standard treatment of 30 sessions (out of his basement Pathology), to the beginning of the same conduct 12 weeks after your first clinical assessment and that the initial diagnosis (non-specific neck pain)(, shoulder or back) is so ambiguous, distorts the result ”.
On the other hand, the CGCFE considers that in the cited work not referred to welding application, when “ it is verified that the effectiveness of the techniques of electrotherapy is related to the intensity Specifies application and not with the number of sessions ”.
That is why Martin Urrialde indicates that the study “ has the intention of discredit therapeutic techniques backed by extensive evidence, hiding the determining factor for the failure, which is the treatment not individualized and constrained by non-professional physical therapy ”.
The CGCFE recalls the current reality of the physiotherapy passes by the “ individual, for maximum efficiency of the techniques whose failure becomes a wrong initial diagnosis, and treatment by a change of the care model that the Council is proposing and which health authorities are required ”.
In this sense, the CGCFE says you must not generate mistrust among users and puts at the disposal of the national health system to establish guarantees of implementation and effectiveness, as a commitment to the defence of health.
Yet disapproves of the emergence of this report that judged “ late and biased, exempt of positive contributions, and hiding the real problem of the excessive spending health, that it is none other than the commercial use of health through conventions and closed concerts, obviating the freedom of the user choose their professional physiotherapy or medical ”.
