Bilbao, January 2013.- Cafes El Abra has wanted to certify the accessibility ” of their coffee capsules and test that it is a product entirely suitable for celiac people. To do so, and with the collaboration of the celiac Association of Euskadi, has sent samples of their coffee encapsulated to the laboratory for analysis of Gluten of the UPV/EHU. Appropriate tests have here been to determine the levels of gluten.
Once analyzed the samples, the laboratory has certified that the product does not contain gluten and is suitable for coeliacs.
All varieties of coffee used by Cafes El Abra to the process of encapsulation are natural and gluten-free, however the Basque company has wanted test the product once already encapsulated to certify that this, a time in contact with the capsules, fully biodegradable, does not acquire any trace of gluten by having this feature and is suitable for people allergic to this protein that you can drink coffee capsules without any problem.
Celiac Association of Euskadi
Cafes El Abra has counted with the collaboration of the celiac Association of Euskadi to perform these tests. Samples were collected last November in the facilities of the Association and, in sterilized containers, were sent to the laboratory of the UPV/EHU to be analyzed.
With this certification, cafés El Abra has wanted to facilitate the consumption of coffee in capsules to coeliacs since these are found on many occasions before the question of whether the coffee in this format of encapsulation is suitable for them.
100% Biodegradable capsules
The capsules that they utilize El Abra coffees are 100% biodegradable under BIODE seal.
This certification certifies that the material used in the capsules (polypropylene and added compound) is completely biodegradable, after subjecting it to aerobic tests and a process of degradation of plastics under controlled conditions of decomposition. It has been proven that used material decomposes at 100% in a period of about 839 days.
Likewise, and strengthen its commitment towards the conservation of the natural environment, cafés El Abra also used sugar envelopes biodegradable pioneers at national and European level. It envelopes made from Oxo-Biodegradable polypropylene for packaging of sugar, an evolution of the traditional polypropylene.

With this form of toast, cafés El Abra ensures that each type of coffee has toasted in optimum conditions to develop in all the characteristics that later was first in the Cup.
The market that target products of the open Cafes is catering market and the food, mainly in shops specializing in coffee or feeding of high Standing (Delicatessen shops) shops. It has recently begun to market several of its varieties of coffee and tea in capsules biodegradable pods.
