manifest Pride Barcelona 2011.

health and equality, our rights.

30 Years ago that AIDS appeared to our lives causing a terrifying wave of fear and discrimination against our community. The ultra-conservative sectors took the circumstance to attack our freedoms. These were years of illness, death, discrimination and marginalization, from lives silenced by the stigma, family and social rejection. With very few resources a small group of activists joined, rather than the own public administrations, in support of those affected and offering information and conducting campaigns to promote the use of condoms.

Also within our own community there, and there is still, prejudices towards people with HIV, which means, for the most part, live within an oppressive wardrobe.

The citizen of the AIDS movement had to do an enormous amount of work to combat prejudice, stigma, discrimination and social exclusion of people with HIV, but also the response to AIDS contributed to a progressive and difficult to advance in the fight for our dignity and rights.

Solidarity and commitment to their way in these dramatic circumstances and the Red Ribbon became the symbol of those who are committed to the fight against HIV and for people with HIV.

Our community showed that it was possible to prevent the transmission of HIV using condoms and promoting the reduction of risks. On the other hand scientific breakthroughs managed to reverse the situation to make AIDS a chronic disease for those who have access to treatments.

But HIV infection continues to be a disease without cure. And continues to expand in our community, very especially among homosexual and bisexual men and transgender women. It is the greatest threat to our health. And in too many areas still discrimination and rejection.

Today, thirty years after gays, lesbians, and women and men and transsexuals bisexual:

– we have to keep calling and calling for more investment to prevent the spread of HIV in our community.

-not cannot accept any possible cut in spending on the fight against HIV because it will necessarily mean the increase of cases of HIV.

– are strongly opposed to a no HIV-positive person who live in Catalonia be can be denied treatment and health care than you need.

– demand a greater commitment of all States developed with countries developing where people with HIV do not have access to the treatments

-HIV is unstoppable beyond succeeds where homophobia, in such a way that we demand the end of discriminatory laws, are calling for equality and condemn homophobic Governments and the social, religious and political groups who are fighting against our rights, which are human rights.

– thanks to all the people and engaged for the work done during these thirty years and particularly to those people living with HIV who have given the face bravely to bring visibility to the reality of living with the HIV.

– and finally today, we celebrate our pride as gay, Lesbian and bisexual, and transgender men and women we ask everyone, all your commitment to prevent the spread of HIV and to provide support and solidarity for people living with HIV.

Health and equality are our rights.

Thanks a lot.
