Cynosure announces the 1st Edition of the prize “ Excellence in Research Award ”.

Spain, 2011-October Cynosure, pioneer in laser technology for medical applications, through Gnoseon, the Academy for the training and knowledge, announces the first edition of the prize “ Excellence in Research Award ” which aims to promote and encourage research into the treatment laser.

In this first edition, Gnoseon, awarded to the best study in vascular malformations with Cynergy laser treatments and is designed by medical residents and accompanying services in dermatology of Spanish hospitals working with Cynergy laser and other users of the Cynergy laser in private consultation.

The prize is € 2,000 for the author of the winning abstract, and if the winning abstract is accepted as a presentation at the Congress of the ASMLS (American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery) will be awarded additional € 2,000 to attend the Congress, and if the abstract is accepted as e-poster the amount will be £ 1,000.

For its part, the Academy for the training and knowledge, Gnoseon, will help the winner to submit the abstract to the ASLMS Congress.

With these awards the company recognizes its work and collaboration with Cynosure, at the time that encourages research.

Madrid, October 2011.- El Hospital Universitario La Paz of Madrid hosts, from 5 to 14 October, the exhibition ‘ new Haiti, right to health and education ’, which Farmamundi is rolling through several cities of Spain, to showcase their work in the Caribbean country since the passage of the earthquake that devastated the island in January 2010.

FECYT opens the third call for evaluation of the quality Editorial and scientific of the magazines scientific Spanish 2011.

Madrid, 2011-October the Spanish Foundation for science and technology launches the third edition of the call for TRUSTedoes of Editorial quality and scientific the journal scientific Spanish 2011 which recognizes the highest quality publications.

The objective of this initiative is to promote the visibility and positioning of the scientific production and innovation Spanish at international level. In each edition, has increased the interest of the magazines for participating in this process and to improve the quality of its publications. Thus, in the first edition of 2007 were 226 magazines, of which 33 exceeded the evaluation. In 2009 there were 443 and 46 were excellent rating.

Journals to overcome successfully the evaluation process will get the seal of quality FECYT as recognition of his scientific and editorial quality. This recognition, it gives FECYT for a period of three years from the final resolution of the corresponding grade. In addition, FECYT offers journals access to the tool of electronic publishing management hosted on the Spanish repository of science and technology.

In this new round, the evaluation process consists of two phases. The Living Lab health Andalusia coordinates public and private sectors to develop a platform of telemedicine.

On this distance healthcare system are neighborhood groups guide today different projects that develop inside the Living Lab andaluz.

Spain, 2011-October initiative Living Lab health Andalusia, promoted by the Ministry of health of the Junta de Andalucía, counts among its projects the platform common integrated telemedicine (PCIT) developed through the collaboration between the public and the private sector. The Iavante Foundation, dependent on the same counseling and management of the Living Lab health Andalusia, has developed this platform based on the system integration and rapid development of InterSystems Ensemble ® applications that serve as a basis in the development of tele and tele-diagnóstico systems, assuring the possibility to resize them, your ability to interact and their security.

This platform aims to provide a solution to the multiple needs that telemedicine can require: make queries live or deferred (synchronous or asynchronous) made from home, hospital or outpatient, carrying out them among specialists or between doctor and patient, and of course, take into account the nature of the various necessary tests (radiological images)(, photographic images, ultrasound images, videoconferencing systems or more simple data). The system allows the storage, search and retrieval of patient demographic and clinical information.

Full systems of any Center support

The PCIT contemplates the particularities of the various facilities depending on the Centre which incorporate, as it is the case of primary care, palliative care centres, homes for the elderly, psychological care centres and prisons, among others. The information generated by these users is stored for later reference and management, in an application fully compatible with the information systems of any Centre. Furthermore the platform can connect with tools embedded in the health system to update or validate any type of information.

To validate the platform, Iavante and InterSystems have developed a case of consultations between specialist in dermatology, following the health care process to which the system should support, and analyzing technical requirements required by and the usual communication mode to make the system more effective and safe. In following phases project will address the requirements of other specialties that require different features and even the doctor-patient consultation. The platform is designed to be used by centres and that they adapt to their own needs it on the basis of those health professionals to detect.

This platform is one of the three technological scenarios that the Andalusian Living Lab puts at the disposal of all its corporate members, which can be put in place and pilot projects. Specifically, this platform to develop and integrate technological solutions of medical distance for different health care areas (hospital, home, etc.) and their application to different health specialties such as primary health care or Dermatology among others.
