Bilbao, 2011-December residences managed by Euskoges, Kirikino and Barrika Barri, have obtained the “ Q ” silver to the quality of management, in recognition of their work to promote health and well-being of its residents. The brand, granted by the Basque Foundation for Excellence (EUSKALIT), is a confirmation of the quality, safety and professionalism that both residences offer to their elders. With this award, the residences have taken one further step in its commitment to quality and excellence, being the pioneers and to date only facilities in Bizkaia to achieve this award.

The award is awarded by EUSKALIT, Foundation driven by the Basque Government to promote the improvement and innovation of management through the promotion of the culture of Total quality, and the organizations that succeed have demonstrated high levels of excellence in its management model, according to the demanding European model EFQM.

The security of transmitted by the “ Q ” silver comes backed by the mechanisms used to assess them, in participating organizations and independent professionals, under the umbrella of the regulation and the rules establishing EUSKALIT.

Residences Barrika Barri and Kirikino, which already looked other international certificates (ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environment and OHSAS 18001 for occupational health and safety), confirm the excellence of his experience in the management of residences geriatric, becoming a reference in the sector of assistance to dependent older people.

Also, their different locations allows them to offer the best home for each type of user. An urban location for a more independent user (Kirikino, in the Centre of Bilbao) with a location in a natural environment, with exterior areas for all types of users, so even people with major disabilities can go outside (Barrika Barri, in Barrika, less than 15 minutes from Getxo).

Another key factor in the management model of Euskoges is the training and professional development, having as main achievement the development of a guide to conduct – company culture. Also, these residences have favoured the development and application of new technologies, both for the implementation of tools specific to the use of digital whiteboards for development of occupational and cognitive activities with users.

In addition, installations, modernizing them and expand them, and also updating its image have improved in recent years. Even there have been significant investments to minimize the environmental, as for example with the installation of solar panels.

Performances abroad have also been increased, with the Organization of excursions or active participation in meetings and congresses, both for listeners as to act as rapporteurs.

The “ Q ” obtained silver responds, in turn, to the residences of Euskoges have opted to be innovative, both in processes or methodologies and implementation of computing resources.
