Madrid, February 2012.- six of every ten Spaniards have symptoms of allergy to mites dust, according to the second part of the results of the European survey on allergy to house dust mites. The survey, conducted by Stallergenes S.A., is the first of this kind carried out in Europe and has been carried out among more than 4,000 citizens of Spain, France, Germany and Italy.

Repeated sneezing, moqueo, nasal tamponade, eye irritation and breathing difficulties are symptoms of allergy to house dust mites widespread among the Spanish population and can be experienced throughout the year. However, despite its high prevalence, only 15% of Spaniards who recognize suffer them has been diagnosed. The Spaniards are the Europeans more importance providing the specialist in the approach of the allergy to house dust mites. The European survey on allergy to house dust mites has been done by Stallergenes S.A. in France, Germany, Italy and Spain. A representative sample of 4.016 people of ages 18 years took part in the survey, with the following distribution:

Móstoles, February 2012.- El Hospital Universitario de Móstoles collects these days the first fruits of his project ‘ training and information in palliative care in Móstoles ’, an initiative designed to improve the quality of care for patients and families suffering from an illness at an advanced stage. The proposal contains specific for caregivers and professionals outreach and training tools.

The project aims to increase relief in patients with a disease without the possibility of healing at the same time emphasizing the importance of a human scale healthcare. According to this plan, alleviate unnecessary suffering is a goal that is achieved with the involvement of people attending these patients in Móstoles: families, volunteers and health workers, both in the hospital environment and in the homes.

The Coordinator of the team of support Hospitalario de Móstoles Hospital palliative, Rosa Quiben, explained that the purpose of the project is, on the one hand, move people a message of closeness and support: “ we want you to know that we have by his side, with a group of people prepared to listen to and motivated to provide the most appropriate solutionsalways respecting the desires and values of the patient and looking for their greater well-being and benefit ”.

Secondly, Quiben stressed the importance attached by the project to the continuing education of professionals in palliative care in a hospital setting. “ Is very necessary that hospital professionals discover the role of the palliative care within our patient care ”.

In this line the Hospital de Móstoles held in late January the 4th edition of its course of palliative care, aimed at health professionals. It had five blocks of content and round tables on the treatment of pain, the coordination of the multidisciplinary teams, the psychological aspects of the patient at the end of life and bioethics, among others. Also interesting practical experience as the stars have been known by the ‘ family school ’ Institute Foundation San Jose.

At the opening, the regional coordinator of palliative care in the community of Madrid, Teresa García-Baquero, highlighted the commitment that the palliative care acquire with each patient, “ and from a global perspective ” – stressed –, attending the ‘ total suffering ’ patients, “ from their physical suffering, to the emotional, passing through the psychological aspectssocial and even the spiritual ”.

40 Students, doctors and nurses of primary and specialized care, and a group of 26 teachers, all of them are integrated into teams and units that currently provide palliative care at the hospital and household level in Móstoles have participated in this course.

The Organization has been in charge of the palliative hospital support team and the medical management of the University Hospital of Móstoles and has been credited by the lain Entralgo agency with 2.9 credits. The project was financed with funds for the strategies of the Ministry of health and Social policy such as support for the strategy of palliative care and attention to the final process of life.
