Cairo, 24 APR (EFE).-the world food program (WFP) has increased its aid to Syria, where plans to assist 250,000 people by the end of this month and reaching half a million in the next few weeks, said today the Agency of the UN.<\/p>\n
according to a release, so far the WFP has supplied assistance, in collaboration with the Red Crescent, to an average of 100,000 Syrians a month in the cities of Homs (Center), Hama (Center), Idleb (North) and Damascus.<\/p>\n
“the increase in our assistance responds to a request by the Syrian Red Crescent and we are ready to increase humanitarian aid when be allowed access,” said the executive director of WFP, Ertharin Cousin.<\/p>\n
Cousin regretted that due to the prolongation of the conflict “the WFP is very concerned about a potential food insecurity” in the areas affected by the violence.<\/p>\n
