Washington, 27 jul (EFE).-former US President Bill Clinton said today that it is possible, though not easy, to achieve universal access to HIV treatment and eliminate transmission of the virus from mother to child by 2015.<\/p>\n
“we can do it, but it won’t be easy,” said the former President (1993-2001) at the closing of the XIX International Conference on AIDS, which brought together in Washington for six days to more than 20,000 experts, government representatives and activists.<\/p>\n
Clinton noted that currently benefit from HIV treatment about 8 million people in all the world.<\/p>\n
“To reach the 2015 universal access have to increase the number of people on treatment by 30 percent per year,” said exmandatario, who since he left the White House chairs a foundation that bears his name and which develops, among other causes, projects against AIDS.<\/p>\n
