However, “is still a minority who receive one, partly because of lack of information and partly by fear to ask ”, points out Dr. Rosselló Barbará, director of the course.

“A study published this month of may in the Journal of Sexual Medicine shows that more than 60% of the patients who was implanted a device with an inflatable valve used it at least once a week. In addition, “the majority of patients returning to sexual activity relatively fast, with a high frequency of use of their prosthesis”. Previous research, published in the March issue of the magazine World Journal of Medicine found that 90% of surveyed nearly a thousand patients who received an implant in the last 30 years were satisfied with the result and it would do. The conclusion was that “the prosthesis of penis surgery is safe and a durable treatment in erectile dysfunction option”.

New device

In the course occurs an improvement in the adaptation of the prosthesis to the anatomy of the patient with a deposit in the form of clover, according to Dr. Rosselló. This deposit or reservoir stores the liquid which, through a system of pumping, fill the cylinders of the prosthesis that is implanted into the corpus cavernosum of the patient and allow an erection. In his view, “their way of clover, unlike the previous ones, in shape of a bottle, makes easier its inclusion and its anchorage in the space created by the surgeon”.
