Santo Domingo, 16 sep (EFE).-the Dominican health authorities reported the death of a man concerned of cholera, which increased to 129 deaths in the country because of the evil, whose incidence, they claimed, is descending.

The deceased was a 61-year-old man who lived in the La Altagracia province (East), explained the Ministry of local public health in a statement, which does not offer the name of the deceased or their nationality.

The Agency said that cases of cholera registered last week reached the 261, while all affected ranked 17.581 people since the illness came to the country last November from Haiti.

“Prospects indicate that the downward trend of the disease in the whole country will be maintained,” said the Agency official.

Public health noted that he maintains preventive actions in the population, which include strict monitoring of diarrhoea cases go to health centres to the purification of water, latrine construction and installation of sanitary mobile at strategic points. EFE
