Santo Domingo, 9 APR (EFE).-the abuse of alcohol, cocaine and other drugs coupled with indiscriminate sexual stimulant use has contributed to the increase in strokes and strokes in men under the age of 30 in the Dominican Republic, medical sources reported today.

The President of the Dominican society of Cardiology, Petronila Martinez, told local media that in the past five years that entity has registered a 10 per cent increase in cases of stroke to the heart and stroke in less than 30 years in the country.

Said that the use of narcotic substances causes constriction of the arteries and therefore myocardial infarction and sudden death, usually by an arrhythmia which usually occurs within the first hour in 30% of cases.

Martínez noted that another causative factor of these ailments in the young Dominicans is the indiscriminate use of sexual stimulants, which generate vasodilation, hypotension and decrease in blood flow to vital organs as the brain and the heart and their consequential collapses.

The specialist also alerted the mass consumption of energy drinks that predispose the formation of clots in the heart, which tend to migrate to the bloodstream, usually to the brain and cause a cerebral accident at high risk of death or permanent disability among young people.

Cited, moreover, that these factors increase their danger when they bind to the excessive consumption of tobacco, lack of exercise and obesity.

Dominican doctor raised the need that people take awareness and take care of your health with healthy habits, as a way of curbing the high rate of cardiovascular problems, which he described as worrying.
