Alphega pharmacy celebrates the arrival of new members and services at its 10 anniversary.

Barcelona, December 2011.- Alphega pharmacy has celebrated the 10th anniversary of its creation at the end of the European Convention (V) at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. Alphega pharmacy, a leading network of independent Europe-wide pharmaceutical, was established in 2001 in France with only a few hundred of pharmacists and, today, sum already more than 5,000 members throughout Europe (including pharmaceutical networks Vivesco, Germany, and Netherlands)(, Kring-Apotheek).

The event, which was inaugurated by Caitlin Sorrell, Director of the European Convention of Alphega pharmacy, brought together over 700 professionals in the pharmaceutical industry, including independent pharmacists, pharmaceutical company representatives, health professionals, and executives of the companies of Alliance Boots. Speakers and participants, as well as celebrate the impressive development of Alphega pharmacy network since its inception, they discussed the recent issues currently affecting the world of the European pharmaceutical industry. These include the importance of building and maintaining strong brands, exploiting the benefits of the agreements with the industry and the impact of the current economic crisis in the Office of Pharmacy and the pharmaceutical market.

At the closing session of this Convention V, Ornella Barra, Executive Director of Alliance Boots pharmaceutical wholesale division, shared a very convincing message with all the international delegates:

“Alliance Boots history teaches us that the pharmacy is in our genes.” We know very well how much the crisis is affecting the separate pharmacists. But we also know that there are opportunities that must be exploited, especially in the field of services to the offices of pharmacy. As a pharmacist entitled, think that we must always be proud of our professional heritage and remember that the separate pharmacists are the first point of contact in the health care community. But they are also entrepreneurs! and that is the reason why Alphega pharmacy will continue to offer a 360 degree support pharmacists from all over Europe, to help them succeed in their profession and continue to represent them as a group together at a time of difficult conditions in the market ”.
