La Federation of associations for the defence of public health (FASDSP), following the announcement of the regional President, María Dolores Cospedal, initiate private management in hospitals in Almansa, Villarrobledo and Tomelloso, Manzanares “to safeguard its continuity,” said that it is “evidence that the PP Governments have a clear intention to privatize the public health system”.

For the Federation, the arguments that are used to bring these measures “are clearly inconsistent, because privatization significantly raise the cost of health services and carry a selection of risks of patients” because private companies “specializing in the care of patients with less severe or less complicated pathologies to ensure its profitability”, reported in press release

In his view, following the announcement of the regional Government of resorting to formulas of participation public-private “partnerships” for the construction of the Hospital of Toledo, Cuenca and Guadalajara, the Federation has indicated that “increases between seven and eight times the cost hospitals”.

“These additional costs impact negatively in public centres in regions experience in these initiatives, where there have been a progressive diminution of their budgets with a deterioration of its operation”, have been added.
