La UB, the CSIC and UAB licensing a patent the company Janus Developments for the treatment of inflammatory diseases. the results of proprietary research might be useful in the medium term in the treatment of various inflammatory diseases. Barcelona, January of 2013.- after a long history of collaboration between three research groups of the UB, the CSIC and UAB interference (siRNA) nucleic acids research, found the solution when it comes to inhibit, among others, genes involved in inflammatory diseases, such as e.g. those related to the action of the Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-alpha). As result of this project in 2010 applied for a patent that has been recently licensed the company Janus Developments SL the results obtained so far do foresee that, in the long run, these products might be useful in the treatment of inflammatory diseases such as Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative Colitis, asthma, psoriasis and even some types of oncological diseases.
