COCEMFE expects the disability law to improve compliance with the legislation.

Madrid, January of 2013- the Spanish Confederation of people with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) wants to reiterate its congratulations to the Ministry of healthSocial services and equality by its intention to integrate all legislation concerning the collective into a new General Bill on disability.

Harmonization of all legislation in the field of disability will help to facilitate the knowledge of the regulations and thus enforcable. In our country comply with laws that encourage integration, autonomy and standardization of our group remains one of the outstanding subjects. Despite the incessant work of awareness which, in this sense, disability organizations, poor controls, low sanctions and regulatory dispersion prevent that our laws are met as it does with the rest ”, explains the President of COCEMFE, Mario García.

To COCEMFE together in a same standard all legislation that aims to ensure equal opportunities, personal autonomy, dignity and the integration of all people, is a firm step towards the recognition of the rights of this group and the commitment of the Government with demands that we made from the disability sector.

According to the President of the entity, persons with disabilities require clear and effective responses to the constant violations of their rights, living on a daily basis. Therefore, this standard should bet on an effective universal accessibility, a formation that allows to increase the levels of personal development and preparation, and that this in turn is an incentive to achieve an employment as the main route to lead an autonomous and standard life ”.

Also, Mario García has claimed to the Minister of health, social services and equality, Ana Mato, that in this integration and harmonization of legislation there is no recoil in the social achievements that both struggled to achieve in the last decades ”.

The Spanish Confederation of persons with physical disability and organic (COCEMFE) is a non-governmental organization non-profit that was founded in 1980. It aims to unite, strengthen and forming and coordinating the efforts and activities of organizations that work in favour of persons with disabilities, both physical and organic to defend their rights and improve their quality of life.
