says that the Interterritorial Council of health “will not serve much” if it does not work “as a mechanism of coordination” of services

BILBAO, 23 ( EUROPA PRESS)

Director of health of the Basque Government, Rafael Bengoa, has considered this Friday that if the autonomous communities “not continue sharing patients, bodies and other services”, which is what in his view constitutes the national health system in a decentralized country, “there will be no” national health system.

Bengoa has made these statements during the course of the presentation of the extension of the telephonic Health Council and the commissioning of the Web Health Council at the headquarters of emergency of Txurdinaga, Bilbao.

To questions from journalists, the Basque Minister of Health stated that “is possible or not” to extend the health agreement with La Rioja for the provision of services to patients of Rioja Alavesa, whose term ends next Thursday, day 29.

“will see what scenario raises the next week, but think that if communities are still not sharing patients between them, which is what makes up the national health system in a country decentralized, if it breaks, there will be national health system”, has been raised.

In this sense, has advanced that his Department recently delivered to La Rioja counterparts a new proposal about “how we believe that we must work from now definitively”, and added that “We hope that La Rioja patients continue to be serviced there where prefer, i.e. in Logroño”.

Inter-territorial Council

With regard to the holding of a new Interterritorial Council of health, Bengoa recalled that “before there are elections in Andalucia and then have to present a budget at the national level”. “may thereafter be an inter-territorial Council, but I don’t think than before”, has opined.

Also said that if this Interterritorial Council “not serves as a mechanism for coordination of such issues, it will not be much”. “It is possible that he can extend, it is possible that it does not recur to extend” has insisted.

On the other hand, said that, at the national level, “there is talk among different political parties on how to address a national problem”, while with respect to autonomy “continue discussing with La Rioja contrapestar its services between the two without economic exchange”.

Finally, has insisted on the “strengthening of infrastructure” carried out by Osakidetza in the Rioja Alavesa, with the aim that “there is no such pressure on Logroño”, and pointed out that Euskadi offers “a few contaprestaciones that they cannot provide to its citizens” to the neighboring community.
