The IPPC and the FIVAN Foundation organized the II symposium international de Neurorehabilitation.

the event will be held at CIPF during the month of October.

– in the Valencia region are 8,500 people with a high risk of sequelae after an acquired brain injury

-the Symposium will address the Neurorehabilitation from a multidisciplinary approach covering from basic neuroscience to the Neurotechnology

Valencia, January 2012.- El Centro de Investigación Prince Felipe (CIPF) and the Valencian Institute Foundation of Neurorehabilitation (FIVAN) organized the Second Editionón International Symposium on Neurorehabilitation: From Basics to Future, which will take place in the Research Center Prince Philip from 18 to 20 October 2012.

The increase of acquired brain damage (DCA) in recent years represents a complex problem of health around the world. Only in the Valencian Community, according to a recent study carried out by the FIVAN Foundation and Superior Research Center in public health (CSISP), it is estimated that there are 8,500 people a year are given high after a DCA and a high risk of sequelae.

The complexity in the approach of the pathology in these patients requires a multidisciplinary approach to take as a starting point the important advances occurring in such fields as information technology and communication (ICT ’ s), virtual reality and robotics. Also, in the study of the DCA experimental scientific advances are relevant (biochemical, genetic, functional, etc); and also the clinical (pharmacological, early intervention, etc.). In this sense, the Congress is a meeting place for outstanding professionals to establish synergies between different fields which you can can be approximations of interest to the progress of research in Neurorehabilitation.

As points out Dr. Javier Chirivella, President of FIVAN and scientific director of the event, after the success of the first edition of the Congress in 2009 with more than 400 registered from 30 different countries, from the FIVAN Foundation have seen the need to unite basic neuroscience, clinic and Neurotechnology with the idea of improving health care models and encourage engineering in Neurorehabilitation ”.

An event of great international projection

For three days, international experts reviewed the current status of Neurorehabilitation and recent advances in the field. The Organization of the event will allow the participation of attendees with the aim of promoting research worldwide activity carried out in research centres, companies and universities, that will show their latest developments.

The Organization of the event shall be borne by the Ministry of health as an institution responsible for the implementation of the results through the network of hospitals in the region of Valencia; FIVAN as an entity specializing in research in Neurorehabilitation; and the CIPF as a research centre and venue chosen for the Congress venue.

As partners are the higher Centre for research in public health, which has contributed to the development of studies of data through its epidemiological monitoring centre; and the Institute of ITACA r & d of the Polytechnic University of Valencia, which supports the event through different inputs from studies and projects associated with patients with acquired brain damage and applied technology research.
