Guadalajara, November 2011- today is very common that pediatricians address and treat cases of children with so-called syndrome of the Emperor, a phenomenon psychosocial occurring by the mistreatment of children to parents and that has a large presence in society in its consultations current. Its high incidence and the concern of Pediatricians at the high number of cases, makes it one of the main themes addressed by the Pediatric professionals in the 7th annual meeting that the Spanish Association of Pediatrics of primary care (pediatricians) held recently in Guadalajara.

Pediatricians Warn of increased psychosocial pathologies and point out that often the appearance of these disorders happen by genetic, familial and environmental causes. In this sense, the abandonment of the family functions, overprotection, lack of authority and lack of affection from parents, are some of the factors that can trigger the increase in cases of syndrome of the Emperor among children and adolescents.

This type of violence is not new, but its incidence has skyrocketed in recent years: since the year 2000, cases of this type of abuse have been multiplied by six, with about 6,500 complaints received by the Attorney General last year.

The Dr. María Victoria García García-Calvo, President of the Spanish Association of Paediatrics of primary care of Castilla La Mancha (APapCLM), pointed out that “ in the last decades we have experienced important changes in the way of understanding the responsibilities in the family. Sometimes parents find difficulties to establish the appropriate balance between authority and affection ”. For this reason, experts argue that the establishment of rules and limits is not only essential, but it is fully compatible with affection.

“ I can not with him ”. This is one of the most repeated by parents when they don’t know how redirect to child “ our consultation is an Observatory of child development and family dynamics from birth through adolescence and we have the task of observing, psychologically advise and guidance on many issues that only require greater involvement of the parents ”.

To avoid the phenomenon of the syndrome of the Emperor, since the pediatricians, pediatricians advise establish from the outset clear rules governing family life but particularly stress the importance of the consistency and reasoning rules when the child has capacity of compression also “ the parents be punished when there is an error, they have to gratify a child when he does things well ”, emphasizes Dr. García García – Calvo.

Give responsibility to the child and make him think before acting are two aspects that the pediatricians recommend in consultation to parents and guardians. “ Is at the stage of learning when it comes to distributing and reaffirm the role of each Member of the family ”, pointing the pediatrician. “ Should be abolished, the belief that the child should not deny anything and it should be said “ not ” the times need to be ”, adds.

Hyperactivity, acne, and obesity, among the issues that most concern to pediatricians.

-atopic dermatitis affects between 15% and 20% of children

-There are false myths about this disease: worsens or is the result of the consumption of certain foods or the SOAP of the washing machine

-time invested pediatricians explaining to parents the disease is a key factor so that they can understand atopic dermatitis and the steps to follow when outbreaks occur

– to the constant promotion of the consumption of probiotics to reinforce the immune system, pediatricians are that its beneficial effects are demonstrated, exclusively for the treatment of diarrhea caused by rotavirus or taking antibiotics

– presents two types of approaches to the dream of children during the first year of life: Behavioral or naturist

Guadalajara, November 2011- another of the aspects that have been addressed during the 7th annual meeting of the AssociationSpanish is of primary care (pediatricians) in Guadalajara Pediatric are dermatological diseases of greater prevalence in children and adolescents, i.e., atopic dermatitis, warts, acne.

“ Specifying, atopic dermatitis affects between 15% and 20% of children, as well as the warts ”, indicates Dr. Angela Hernández, dermatologist of the Hospital child Jesus de Madrid.

As warts, Dr. Hernández explains that the most common are presented in the feet and bother the children to walk, and specific acne than “ they are usually very visible and particularly in adolescence, can affect mood which is suffering due to the brands that represent ”.

Atopic dermatitis is usually affected for several years. “ Treatments that we have at present are palliative, i.e. to control the outbreak ”, points out Dr. Hernández. “ On the other hand, the approach of the other two skin manifestations, acne and warts are solved with healing treatments ”.

Currently, these diseases cannot be prevented but, for example, “ for atopic dermatitis, while investing pediatricians explaining to parents the disease is a key factor so they can understand the disease and the steps to follow when outbreaks occur ”, points out Dr. Hernández.

There are misconceptions associated with the possible causes of atopic dermatitis as it is its relationship with food items “ this is something that eats ”, believe many parents. “ Nothing further from reality, atopic dermatitis is not an allergy ”, concrete Dr. Hernández. “ This costs a lot to make it understand parents, adds, and usually lead to that you removed from the diet of their children milk, egg, Orange, kiwi, etc. when it is not justified ”. Other types of beliefs are added to this that the SOAP of the washing machine also influences this disease, “ other reasoning outside evidence and justification ”.

what our children eat and how eat?

This concern of many parents has also analyzed during the meeting. We have examined the recommendations, based on the evidence, for the introduction of various foodstuffs including “ breastfeeding to 6 months of the baby ”, says Dr. Carmen Villaizán, Pediatric primary care of the Centre for health in Sonseca, Toledo. Also, in the current context of the constant promotion of the use of probiotics to strengthen the immune system, Dr. Villaizán clarifies that pediatricians demonstrate that “ its beneficial effects are demonstrated, exclusively for the treatment of diarrhea caused by rotavirus or taking antibiotics ”.

In addition, pediatricians have formed in a practical way, through workshops, on issues such as the dream of children during the first years of life. “ This aspect has been addressed from two different prisms, from the behaviorist approach and the naturist, so that they complement one another and will acquire comprehensive knowledge ”, explained Dr. Javier Blanco, President of the VII annual meeting.

Another worrying problem in the field of Pediatric primary care is also education in schools. “ In this area is where there are cases of children with attention deficit and hyperactivity which the pediatrician, in their day to day, must detect, respond and resolve ”, indicates the white doctor.

Also, issues such as diseases of digestive nature (ebbs, constipation, etc.), accidents or shocks affecting the spine, ophthalmologic problems, small surgical interventions carried out by pediatricians, asthma, ECG and emergencies, have formed part of the different issues that have updated their knowledge of the paediatricians of PA

These data are published in the “guide of good practice clinic in infections of sexually transmitted”, made by ten specialists in family medicine, epidemiology, Dermatology and venerology and presented by the College medical organization (WTO).

With regard to cases of gonococcal infection (gonorrhea), the document indicates that there has been a stabilization of the reported cases, 1,944 in 2010 (a rate of 4.27 per 100,000 population). In Europe and according to data from the World Health Organization (WTO), since 1996 there has been a significant increase of syphilis and gonorrhea in countries of Western Europe, notably United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands and Sweden. Infections have also experienced an increase in chlamydia, genital warts and herpes simplex. According to the latest data from the European surveillance network of the infections of sexually transmitted infection with Chlamydia is the most common assigned especially to young people and women and European countries.

In humans, usually appears on the penis, and in women, labia majora while 5% of the lesions have an extragenital location, mainly in the skin, hands and plant of the foot. Currently, syphilis is a common Spain infection and has surpassed the gonorrhea. Just as in the United States.UU or in other European countries, the highest prevalence of this infection is seen in homosexual men, many of them, with HIV infection. One of the causes of the increase could be due to that Spain is welcome Centre of prostitution in countries of Eastern Europe, Africa or Central America, which are areas with higher rates of syphilis.

Gonococcal infection in men is usually set in the rectum and the penis and, in women, on the neck of the uterus, although 80% of cases are asymptomatic, which makes that it extends the period between the acquisition of the infection and its treatmentwhich increases the chances of complications and determines its epidemiological role in transmission to be more important.
