Panamanian Government will import 1.3 million quintals of rice due to scarcity

Panama, 20 mar (EFE).-the Government of Panama today officially announced that 1.3 million quintals of rice, will it matter to detect that domestic production is not enough to meet the demand in the coming months. By a decree published today in the Official Gazette, the Government concerned “local production is insufficient for the required supply” after conducting a national inventory of rice between January 30 and February 3 past and the analysis of consumption and supply of cereal. The supply of rice for domestic consumption of Panama is guaranteed until next July with existing stocks of 2.7 million quintals in shell and clean and dry cellars, according to data from the authority of protection to consumers and competition (Acodeco) published by the local press. Defined as the main foodstuff of the Panamanians, the rice will be imported will be divided into 650,000 tonnes in shell and the same amount pilado. Accurate grain arriving in shell pay a tariff of 3% on the CIF (cost, insurance and freight) value, while 15% pilado also on the CIF value and your income must be between 15 May and 15 June next....

(Reuters) – the total number of Americans who are diagnosed or die of cancer is declining, but certain types of obesity and inactivity-related cancer are on the rise, according to the annual report of the situation of cancer in United States. United States cancer rates fell by 0.6 per cent per year between 2004 and 2008, according to the report, based on data from the National Institute of cancer, Disease prevention and Control centers and other sources. For men, the incidence of prostate cancer was reduced by an average of 2.1 per cent per year, while lung cancer rates fell by 2 percent. In women, lung cancer rates fell by 1.2 per cent a year, while the incidence of breast cancer, which is associated with obesity, remained equal. “the incidence of breast cancer was reduced when the hormones retreated, but now it has stabilized,” said Dr. Powell Brown, President of the cancer prevention in the Department of medical oncology in cancer MD Anderson Center at the University of Texas in Houston.
