A survey conducted at the Faculdade de Odontologia (FO) allows the removal of carious more accurately and without causing major changes in the surface of the teeth from the use of dental lasers with pulse ultracurtos.

Dental

in method tested by surgeon-dentist Stella Marina Silva Bello, faster the pulses reach a smaller area and have a differentiated interaction with the surface, which does not put at risk the dental tissue.  The technique has not yet adopted clinically, it may be used in applications that are not common lasers, adopted as staging site implants and in microsurgeries.

erbium lasers, currently used in dentistry, emitting pulses of the order of microseconds (1.10-6 seconds), or approximately 1 million times shorter than a second. Ultracurtos pulse lasers are employed in the automotive industry and of biomaterials, as well as in the modern ophthalmological surgery for correcting myopia.

in the treatment with the conventional laser, the restoration of tooth by applying resin require a pre-treatment of the surface, to improve adherence. However, with the use of ultracurtos pulses that do not damage the surface – – there was a good accession without need for additional conditioning of the area where the resin is applied

research will contribute to the development of a minimally invasive dentistry. Studies with pulse lasers in dentistry ultracurtos are still in the initial phase
