Institute medical laser starts to work CONFOSCAN: the new programme for analysis of results of Confocal microscopy.

Spain, 2011-October Confoscan, the new software of quantification for the analysis of results of Confocal Microscopy, is already being applied by Institute medical laser physicians who, in the Confoscan Days prowess, agreed in advance that incorporate this technology into the system of Confocal Microscopywith which they already work from the year 2009 for their dermatological applications, diagnosis and evolution of skin rejuvenation.

Confoscan allows you to measure the State of the network of collagen and elastin, determine the size, shape and number of the different cells of the surface portion of the skin to the dermal papillae and quantify the melanin, digitizing and representing such quantification in numerical form. Thus, physicians of IML can make objective improvements at the level of collagen obtained with dermocosmetic treatments and so make a better assessment of their trials.

The microscopy of scanning laser confocal, technical non-invasive, safe and painless, allows to see inside the surface portion of the skin at different depths in real time, providing rapid and accurate information without having to obtain prior samples through histological cuts. Furthermore, the high resolution confocal microscopy-generated allows therapeutic monitoring over weeks, months or even years to check progress and course of dermatological and aesthetic treatments.

The operation of the confocal microscope is based on the conjugation of the focal planes (confocal) or elimination of the light that comes from the levels above and below the focal plane, thereby increasing the clarity and resolution of the image. It also has an infrared laser of 830 Nm wavelength, whose light penetrates into each of the skin layers to a depth of between 200 and 300 microns. The light hits each cell individually, reflecting and creating digital images that provide information on the structure and composition of each of the layers of the skin.

IML applied Microscopy Confocal:

as diagnóstico:
tool
-cutaneous aging produced by exposure to the Sun and the passage of time.
-Melanoma, pigmented lesions, psoriasis, Actinic Keratosis, basal cell carcinoma
-Dermatitis and allergies

as a tool of measurement and results of investigation clinic. contrast

-The Journal of Clinical Dermatology published a study of laser Medical Institute on the treatment of acne scars, macroscopic results were contrasted with the images obtained during the study, the Confocal Microscope, crediting and Government observed cosmetic changes to level Ultra-structural.
