Eleven people save life each day through a transplant.

Madrid, February 2012.- the National Federation of patients and transplanted liver (FNETH), Member entity of COCEMFE, with the support of the Federation of transplant of heart, and the Spanish Federation of Cystic Fibrosis held for the fifth year the national transplant day today Wednesday, February 29.

The year 2011 has meant an unprecedented success in what regards to transplantation.

Spain continues to be the world benchmark, this year 2011 with more than 4,200 made transplants has made it possible that between 11 and 12 people each day, they can continue living with a transplant.

This is reason enough to thank the society and all professionals involved in the process of a transplant, his altruistic and generous gesture. During 2011 Spain has managed to reach almost 82,000 transplants figure, since that the transplantation programme started some decades ago. This is a record and at the same time the benchmark globally largest.

The National Federation of patients and transplanted liver (FNETH), together with the federations of transplant of heart and Cystic Fibrosis, carried out an act of homage in the day February 29 at 11; 00 am in the school official of doctors of Madrid (Calle Santa Isabel)(51) where also will be awarded the prizes Carlos Margarit, which was who performed the first liver transplant in Spain.

In this edition will be awarded the Dr. D. José Pérez Bernal to the humanitarian work and Dr. D. Pedro Cavadas for his work Médico-Científica.
