ORLANDO, USA (Reuters) – eat an Apple day

it would keep the doctor away, but three kiwis could reduce

blood pressure.

A study released at the scientific meeting of the

American Association in Orlando heart revealed that

eat three times a day the fruit of skin amarronada and hairy and

tender green interior was related to a reduction of the

pressure blood.

High pressure is considered a risk factor of

heart disease, which remains the main cause of

death in the world.

The eight week study led by Mette

Svendsen of the University Hospital in Oslo, Norway,

118 people with an average age of 55 and

pressure slightly high.

A group added three kiwis to their daily diet, while the

another added an Apple. Kiwis contain lutein, which has

Properties antioxidants.

After eight weeks, the researchers found that the

systolic pressure within 24 hours of the group that consumed kiwi was

on average about 3.6 millimeters of mercury than the of the

Apple users. Systolic pressure is the number

of the reading.

The diastolic blood pressure was also lower in the

cohort that consumed kiwis, although the association with the fruit

it was not so clear, they pointed to the researchers.

The team recommended that the findings are confirmed with

a broader study.

The surprising thing with kiwis study is perhaps that it was

made in Norway and not New Zealand.
