Manifesto in defense of the medical colleges.

General Assembly.

Spain, January 2013.- the General Assembly of the General Council of medical colleges, Spain, at its meeting last Monday, has decided to make public this manifesto in defense of the colleges of physicians and their democratically elected representatives to constant pressures from the political powers to defend the ethical duty above any other convenience that every physician has with the patient and the care of their health before any other convenience.

In this sense, and by unanimous consent this manifest General Assembly:

1.-the Spanish Medical Association (WTO) wants to make it clear that doctors are not the culprits in the deterioration of the health system and wants to denounce the inappropriate treatment, which, in many cases, come to receive some public administrations.

2. The WTO again reiterates that the management of the national system of health (SNS) and the different autonomies is not adequate and that it is essential to tackle your change to get the improvement and maintenance of the quality system. It considers that this management must have their foundations in professional and scientific criteria and not solely political or economic.

3. The WTO does not share indiscriminate trimming measures are applied, by understanding that they endanger the aforementioned quality and that even some of them threaten the safety of patients.

4. This Council General of medical colleges of Spain, and the Presidents of all provincial medical colleges and their autonomic advice, meeting in General Assembly, agree unanimously to require their active participation in the analysis for the improvement of the health system and it reiterates in its explicit commitment to public collaborationaimed at returning to the SNS to the levels of quality, equity and universality that has always had.

The General Assembly has analyzed the draft draft law on professional services

The General Assembly of the CGCOM also addressed the draft of the draft law on professional services prepared by the Ministry of economy and competitiveness and highlighted:

1 º satisfaction because in the field of economic management have been collected all proposals with regard to compulsory membership which are included in the various documents adopted by this Assembly. 2nd Thanks to the Ministry of health, social services and equality for his unequivocal defence of the universal membership of medical professionals.

in the analysis that has made the General Assembly and, bearing in mind that this is a draft Bill, also have been discussed some aspects contained in this draft with regard to the territoriality of the collegiate level, guardianship and incompatibilities, topics that have been deferred for analysis in depth in an upcoming Assembly is known when the final text of the preliminary draft to go to the Council of Ministers.

The members of the Assembly have made clear that, from the collegiate level, self-regulatory capacity of the medical profession, his responsibility and his commitment with the society and doctors will continue defending.
