they are those that are not eligible under the assumptions of financing covering the Administration, but they suffer from, say, “an important psychological affectation”

MADRID, 8 ( EUROPA PRESS)

The Professional Union of doctors and surgeons in Spain aesthetic urges the Government to cover the cost of explantación and implantation of new mammary prosthesis to the 30,000 women involved at the moment by Spain PIP prostheses, but that they cannot benefit the assumptions of funding referred to in the administration. Although their prosthesis has not been broken, considered necessary to explantarlas by psychological concerns that would be suffering patients.

This the President of this Association, Jesus Moreno, was announced Thursday by ensuring that “aesthetic crisis” generated by the PIP prosthesis is a “scam” in which have been adversely affected both doctors and patients and that the Government and the EU “are responsible for”, because their controls are those that allowed these defective prostheses reach operating.

Says that the PIP “were not cheaper” that the rest of prosthesis, by what doctors sought do not benefit from their use, they are also victims.

According to Moreno, now, and before that administrations take letters in the case, surgeons of his Association have worked for free to operate to these women, whose health does not run a great risk, since, as explained, the rupture of the single PIP could cause inflammation and irritation, never cancer- but are not quiet being the PIP.

“If there is no rupture, the Spanish Administration advised make revisions for some periods estimated at six months.” “Our opinion varies, because any woman implanted with these prostheses, even if you have integration of them demonstrated by radiological studies, has an important psychological affectation (…) because it carries a little safe product, with more risk of rupture”, added.

Volunteer surgeons operate by 1,800 EUROS

These operations voluntarily perform this association only professionals are having a minimum cost for the patients of 1,800 euros, a third of what it would cost an operation of these features. This amount includes the rental of operating room, anesthesia costs and new prostheses, but not the surgeon fees.

Only in the Valencian Community, where sold 40 percent of the PIP – becoming the autonomy where there would be more affected, followed by Catalonia and Madrid – these volunteer surgeons have performed 180 operations, in which four patients would have been detected with breaks in their prosthesis.

For this Association, this is an unfair situation, as both the Government and the regional authorities are “trying to drain the bulk”, according to the lawyer of the Association, Jesús García, who warns that, if Governments are not unless these costs, could attend the courts.

“From our point of view is a scam, that our patients and physicians have been swindled and this needs to be fix it.” “Why the Professional Union of doctors and surgeons aesthetic has a legal department that is already working in this line, fix this kind of unfortunate situation,” he says.

In his view, the health Protocol on the PIP prosthesis – which does not remove them in all cases – has generated “differences between first and second class patients”, i.e. between the women operated in public health or in countries such as France or Germany and the rest.
