Washington, 5 Dec (EFE).-La NASA today announced the latest space observatory findings Kepler, that travels the Galaxy in search of planets that can exist, liquid water and therefore life.

Since that was released in 2009, Kepler is detecting planets and candidates with a wide range of sizes and distances of orbitals also varied, to help scientists better understand what our place in the Galaxy.

The NASA intends to give a press conference at 1360 GMT in which presented the up-to-date statistics of the discoveries of Kepler from 1 February and announced a new planetary discovery, he said in a statement.

The briefing will include the director of the Center for research Ames in California, Pete Worden; NASA as well as the director of the Centre for research of the Institute of research on extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI), Jill Tarterf.

Will be also the Deputy Director of the scientific team of Kepler in the Ames Center, Natalie Batalha and the principal investigator of Kepler in the Ames Center, Bill Borucki.

After the press conference will be inaugurated a scientific conference on Kepler which meet from 5 to 9 December to more than 100 experts in various fields such as Astrophysics, planetary science and exoplanets who will analyse the progress made by the Observatory.

Kepler is the first NASA mission capable of finding planets the size of the earth near the so-called “habitable zone”, the region in a planetary system where there may be water liquid on the surface of the planet orbit.

Only in the last year the Space Observatory has discovered a solar system with six planets and a planet with two Suns, which has fascinated the Community scientific.

Downtown Ames NASA is responsible for the development of the systems on Earth, of the operations of the mission and the analysis of the scientific data it provides, while Propulsion Laboratory to Jet (JPL) in Pasadena, California, manages the development of the mission.

The company Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corporation, headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, developed the Kepler flight system and gives operational support together with JPL to the Department of physical space of the University of Colorado.

The Space Telescope Science Institute, located in Baltimore, Maryland, archives and distributes science of this mission of 10 years.

Released in March 2009, its mission is to collect intelligence and evidence of planets orbiting around stars with temperature conditions mean where there is liquid water, and therefore, life. EFE
