new YORK (Reuters Health) – schools of United States

Advanced a small step in the promotion of food

healthy students between 2006 and 2010, although a

new study shows that much work still pending.

according to a scale of zero to 100, the public schools

improved three points in the quality of the food environment and

private schools advanced five points.

the authors of the evaluation sought to see if there were improvements

with implementing policies of nutritional well-being in

schools across the country between 2006, when ordered apply

those policies, and late 2010.

“the important thing is that there were some changes in certain areas,

but needed more changes to create a healthy environment

optimal”, said Lindsey Turner, lead author of the study e

skim in most establishments and increased the amount of

gardens school. private schools also improved their

educational nutritional. programmes

Turner published this year that decreased access of

students to soft drinks and other beverages sweet. but, in the

new study, General scores assigned to schools

by their answers they atemperaron that advance.

the qualification of public schools increased from 50.1

points in 2006 to 53.5 points in 2009, while the of

private schools rose from 37.2 in 2006 to 42.2 in 2009.

“Although there was an increase in the percentage of schools with

healthy practices and average score grew

significantly, the magnitude of the change was minimal and even

much to improve”, write the authors in Journal of

the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
