Professionals in the Hospital del Sureste rebuild areas affected by tumors.

Madrid, July 2010.- the Southeast Hospital has achieved a new breakthrough in the attention. Thus, patients who has intervened to remove tumors in the nose and ears have the opportunity that are subjected to the reconstruction of the affected areas. This has been possible thanks to the collaboration between the departments of Otolaryngology, Dermatology and pathology.

Health Minister Javier Fernández-Lasquetty has had the opportunity to check the work of these professionals in his visit to the hospital located in Arganda del Rey. In the Auditorium of the Centre has received the explanations provided by the health, audiovisual material that used to detail the particulars of this type of intervention. There are very few Spanish hospitals of the characteristics of the Southeast that carry out reconstructions of this type.

The process starts with the detection of a tumor from primary care or by practitioners of the Southeast, the case is evaluated and studied in a clinical session which valued the various options to address it – using, among other elements, photographic material – and, if it has to be solved in the operating room, is the appropriate preoperative to not delay longer than strictly necessary intervention.

Already in the operating room, the otorrinos are in charge of the resection and removal of the affected area, and separate once the tumor leads to laboratory of Pathology, after studying it carefully, marking guidelines to follow in the operating room – which is still the patient – if it is necessary to extend the zone to reseccionar. Postoperative treatment

Positive valuation

The high quality of the assistance of the Centre is reflected in the positive valuation shown by patients of the Center. And that, according to data from the last survey carried out by the Madrid health service patient satisfaction, health staff from the Centre of Arganda del Rey greatly exceeds the notable. 80.3% Of users are satisfied or very satisfied with the care received.

By departments, 85.2% of the patients in consultations; 76.9% of emergency; 87.9% of the hospitalized; 92.5% of CMA or 84.9% of users of the obstetric Hospital have been satisfied or very satisfied with the care received. Similar percentages reaches the staff of nursing with 74.4%; 88.6 per cent; 95.6 per cent and a 94.3% respectively.
