Researchers, companies and drug companies seek new ties of collaboration.

Zaragoza, June 2012.- El Instituto Aragonés of Health Sciences (IACS) and Farmaindustria, the Farma-Biotec program offered through the Spanish innovative medicines technology platform,. The meeting, which will take place tomorrow, aims to promote partnerships between research centres, the new Spanish biotechnology companies and drug companies.

This program, which has chosen a different city of Madrid and Barcelona for the celebration of one of their encounters, first is identifying linkages of business that can be exploited in the area of the results of biomedical research. Research that both researchers and biotech companies in the area of human health relies on a promising basis, in terms of business development, due to the high level of scientific researchers and entrepreneurs and the substantial improvement as regards industrial protection criteria. However still remains a wide gap to bridge to move until the market promising scientific results obtained, from where new therapies are made accessible to patients.

Precisely, during this day, Aragonese scientists – belonging to the IACS, UZ and top – Navarrese and biotechnological companies in both regions, had the opportunity to expose their scientific achievements to the pharmaceutical industry in order to lay the groundwork so that these results are applicable and directly impact on the improvement of the health of citizens.

To do this, first identified those groups of research and new biotech companies in our area who are involved in a meaningful way in the development of new drugs or the improvement of technologies. At this stage, was established, through direct contact with researchers and entrepreneurs, the validity of their proposals and the availability to participate in the initiative.

The IACS is the Manager public centre of knowledge in biomedicine and health, which includes professionals from hospitals and primary care of Aragon and whose mission is to facilitate effective innovation in health through knowledge management services.
