SIMO Network 2011 announces the award for innovation in e-health.

-the objective is to contribute to a better understanding of the main lines of advance of e-health in Spain, as well as to recognize the work of professionals and institutions that promote the development and implementation of ICT in the Health Sector solutions

-A Committee composed of prominent professionals in the communication will select the best projects which will then undergo online vote for the winner in the first instance

Spain, 2011-August SIMO Network convenes this year the new prize for innovation in e-health, in line with the actions that has been promoting to show the advantages of the technology as a generator of efficiency, and that, in this edition of 2011, situated in the foreground the transformative power of ICT in the health sector.

The objective of this award is to contribute to a better understanding of the main lines of advance of e-health in Spain and the benefits, by presenting a selection of the most cutting-edge projects and already in operation in this area. With this initiative, SIMO Network wants to also acknowledge the work of professionals and institutions that promote the development and implementation of ICT in the Health Sector solutions; a task of essential impact on its ability to increase and maintain the quality of the presentations in a scheme of sustainability of the system.

The nominations, which should be submitted to SIMO Network on July 15, 2011 will be valued, in the first instance by a selection Committee composed of five professionals specialized in health and ICT media information: Javier Olave, Director of Diario Médico; Javier López Tazón, responsible for the Ariane technology supplement of EL MUNDO; Thomas Delclós, responsible for the technological CIBERPAIS supplement of EL PAIS; Ambrosio Rodriguez, Director of Computing Spain, and Maria Jose Marzal, Director of Computerworld.

Among all the submitted projects, the selection Committee will establish a first nomination for evaluating projects based on the following criteria: innovative contribution, i.e., what new features and benefits introduced on other proposals of eHealth, either from the point of view technological, operational or implementation; Technological contribution relating to ICT, or to what extent is a relevant use of these tools and if the technologies are enabling a substantial part of the added value of the project; Utility, consider the way in which the draft resolves an objetivada need if he is ability to articulate a better functioning of the health system and is more responsive to the needs of the citizen; Functionality, it will serve the practical aspect of the project and if it really provides the benefits for which has been designed, and impact, deemed to what extent the project is replicable or extrapolated and if you have ability to positively influence the development of eHealth in Spain, in terms of results in the short term and potential in the medium term. The submission of preliminary phases to implementing projects or research projects is explicitly excluded underway.

After this initial selection, the nominated projects will be subject to an online vote open between 1 and 23 September, through the web page of SIMO Network and other web sites and online publications of the sector, which will finally decide what is the winning proposal. The communication of the result to the winner and other nominated candidates will be made public on September 27, 2011.

Both the nominees and the winning project will benefit from an important visibility in the context of SIMO Network 2011, that organised by IFEMA is held from 4 to 6 October at FERIA DE MADRID, where they will present in format of information panels, as well as on the website of the fair and in their promotional brochures.

For the winner, the innovation award in SIMO Network eHealth will mean double recognition, on the one hand the press expert, represented in the selection Committee, and on the other, of an open spectrum computer, health managers, providers and users of the system of health through their vote online. In addition, through the global perspective that will offer all the projects submitted, this award wants to move a message of encouragement to professionals and entities that contribute to the modernisation and sustainability of the health system.
