Spain and South Africa promote cooperation through the joint development of technology projects between the entities of the two countries

-Director General of the Center for the technological Industrial Development (CDTI), Arturo Azcorra, and Simphiwe Duma, Executive Director of the Agency of innovation of the Republic of South Africa – Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) -, have held a meeting for the joint development of technological projects between entities of both countries, within the framework of the Bilateral technological cooperation program, South Africa & Spain Innovating ” (SASI), signed with South Africa in 2010.

– this meeting fits within the axis of internationalization that includes the State strategy of innovation (e2i)promoted by the Ministry of science and innovation (MICINN), and will facilitate the establishment of new partnerships of a technological nature between Spain and South Africa.

-East Bilateral technological cooperation programme is the 6th CDTI starts up with a counterpart agency, and 1 that is established with an African country.

Spain, 2011-October The General Director of the Centre for technological Industrial Development (CDTI), Arturo Azcorra, and Simphiwe Duma, Director Executive of the Agency of innovation of the Republic of South Africa – Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), have maintained a meeting for the joint development of technological projects between the entities of the two countriesin the framework of the Bilateral programme of technical cooperation signed last year with South Africa, called South Africa & Spain Innovating ” (SASI). This meeting is part of the axis of internationalization that includes the State strategy of innovation (E2i), promoted by the Ministry of science and innovation, which has among its objectives facilitate innovative companies to incorporate the international in its development strategy and put value on international markets of technological and innovative products that have been developed andMoreover, to increase the number of companies that have the knowledge of its source of sustainable competitive advantage in a globalized environment.

In the meeting held yesterday the work Plan has been signed for the next two years and the rest of operating documents necessary for the implementation has been adopted in motion of the Bilateral technological cooperation programme South Africa & Spain Innovating ” which will facilitate the establishment of strategic alliances of a technological nature through joint initiatives in the field the transfer of technology, industrial research, development and technological innovation, with the objective that companies can gain access to international markets through products, processes and innovative services developed in collaboration between the entities of the two countries. At the meeting of yesterday have been analysed technological strengths of the two countries, both identifying the complementarities as a potential collaboration in areas such as renewable energy, ICT, agro-industry and biotechnology, among others.

Products, processes and services that are developed will be with a quality label ”, in addition to grant official recognition to technological cooperation carried out, allowing Spanish companies access to preferred financing of CDTI, i.e., up to 85% of the eligible budget zero-interest creditover 10 years, with up to three qualifying and a non-refundable associated stretch up to 33% for SMEs on the CDTI for having an international partner contribution.
