MADRID (Reuters) – Spain, a world leader in organ transplants, has broken a new record after record 94 interventions within 72 hours, according to the national organization for organ transplants.

The 23, 24 and 25 November 39 donors gave their bodies to benefit 91 receptors, two of whom were in “urgent zero”, which means that they would have died if they had not received the body in 24-48 hours.

39 Donor, two were foreigners and only two others had died in accidents of traffic.

About 94 transplantation, 48 were kidney liver 23, 8 lung, 6 heart, pancreas and 3 1 of intestine.

This marathon process involved nearly 1,000 people and several private and public agencies including 42 hospitals, 10 airports, involved autonomous communities, civil protection and emergency services and the collaboration of the major State of the air.

The previous record of activity of the ONT was established on March 29, 2009, when carried out 32 transplants in 24 hours.

Spain was leader in organ donation and transplantation in 2010 for the 19th consecutive year, with a rate of 32 million inhabitants and the realization of a total of 1,502 donors world transplants year past.
