Step by Step celebrates its fourth anniversary as a reference in Catalonia in the rehabilitation of injured spinal cord.

The Foundation Step by Step is a non-profit dedicated to the rehabilitation of those injured spinal cord that, once exceeded treatments in hospitals and specialized centres, opt to continue with the recovery from physical therapy to obtain greater autonomy.

Since its opening, SbS Centre has allocated more than 550.000 € to the treatment of injured spinal cord and the acquisition of equipment of last generation in order to facilitate an improvement in the quality of life of the injured and their family and affective environment and contribute to an increase in their personal autonomy.

Total aided injured, 15% come from outside of Catalonia (Valencia, La Rioja, Canary Islands, Andalusia, Madrid, Murcia, etc.) and treatments have also offered to people of Japan United States, France, Romania, United Kingdom, Scotland, Mali and Africa Dubai, which have been able to know the method applied in the Centerunique in Europe.

The treatment offered in Step by Step has been exported and certified by the Project Walk of United States, where SbS physiotherapy team regularly conducts training courses and update

Last year, the Foundation Step by Step has also established a Scientific Committee to work on new lines of research and has organized the first edition of the International Spinal Cord Repair Meeting ” (I Congress World of repair of the spinal cord Espinal)that has counted with the participation of the principal investigators of reference at the international level in the field of repair of spinal cord damage.

The commitment of the Foundation to offer the best and most advanced recovery services is also today the commitment of more than 30 companies and collaborating institutions, as well as 150 friends of the Foundation, which guarantee the functioning of the rehabilitation centre, they assist in the financing of new lines of research in the field of the recovery of the injured spinal cord and allow a training team of physical therapists of the Centre.

The creation of Step by Step arose from the experience of its founder Frederic Crespo, who to obtain the best results in its own rehabilitation decided to investigate the best treatments in this field. Advised by Dr. Miguel Ángel González old and DRA. Mercè Avellanet, Vice-Presidents of SbS, traveled to the Foundation Center’s Project Walk in California, the United States, where could see first hand the latest advances in these modern treatments of physiotherapy which enjoy worldwide recognition and it is now the Foundation Step by Step applies in Catalonia, at its headquarters in L ’ Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona).
