Teresa Martinez taught another course in gerontology care centred in Donostia.

Donostia, June of 2011- the Asturian gerontóloga becomes reference and deepen today tomorrow 13 and 14 in the formation of the professional social model and the know how ” necessary for its implementation, in the 2nd addendum of course organized by Matia Innova with the collaboration of the Basque Government: Gerontology attention focused on the person.

Guide, funded by the Department of Social Affairs and employment of Basque Government, through a cooperation agreement between the Executive and the entities Ingema and Matia Innova.

Publishing – about to be edited – is a powerful tool for the defence of the rights, preferences and the dignity of older persons in situation of dependency. This is a manual which are key for the application of the model in homes, day centres and home help services. It contains both the values of the model strategies and instruments for its implementation.

It is oriented, it gives clues about methodological options and tools that help to build care plans tailored to each individual user. Generate reflection on good practices and the risks of the everyday interventions, so that there is consistency between the guiding principles of Gerontology and the professional speech as a dynamic context of social interaction.

These developments have in common a claim: give a central role to the autonomy of subjects who are targeted professional performances while ensuring their individual rights.

The training provided by the expert on this innovative model, will face here and in the coming months will be virtual (e-learning course) in partnership with Asmoz Foundation.

social gerontology expert psychologist. He currently works in the service of quality and inspection of the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Principality of Asturias.

He began his professional career in the direct care and worked for 12 years in a residence and day for elderly people specialized in public ownership Alzheimer Center. 10 Years he has held technical and policy positions in the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Principality of Asturias. He was head of planning services for older people and people with disability and later Director General of planning and quality.

Author of publications and scientific articles in the field of social gerontology and disability. Speaker at national and international congresses. He has collaborated in postgraduate courses and masters degrees in social gerontology at different Spanish universities and various projects of regional governments. He has worked also as a teacher and consultant in Latin America, with the IMSERSO, the Autonomous University of Madrid, with the AECI (Spanish Agency of cooperation with Latin America for development) and with the CEPAL (United Nations).

Awards: Society of Geriatrics and Gerontology of the Principality of Asturias 1995; Pañella houses Prize awarded by the Spanish society of Geriatrics and Gerontology in 1995 and 2004. Mention honorary award of the IMSERSO-Sociedad Española award of Geriatrics and Gerontology 2002.

Its projects and publications are placed in the field of applied Gerontology. Specifically their latest published works focus on the development of the model of Gerontology care person-centered (centres and home), on the good professional practices for the care of persons in a situation of dependence, in gerontology intervention in rural areas, as well as in the design of programmes of cognitive stimulation, training memory and vital review from work through reminiscences.
