Madrid, 2011-September Coordinator of participation and Social Action of the people’s Party and second Vice-President of the Congress of Deputies, Ana Pastor, has met in his Office at the Congress of Deputies with representatives of the General Council of Ópticos-Optometristas schools to study its proposals with a view to the drafting of the electoral program of the PP for the next general election. This meeting is part of the working people’s Party is being developed with different health interest groups.

Pastor has expressed “great disappointment” with the Socialist Government. Despite having cash with four health ministers during this Executive, “the law on management of health professions, specialties or areas of specific training has been developed, nor it has deepened over the competence level of the health professions”, he said.

Thus, he reminded that the PP is working with all the health professions, also with the ópticos-optometristas, in order to analyse their proposals, such as the eye and eye recipe of prescription, for greater safety for patients.

In addition, it has highlighted the role of the sector in prevention of eye problems, at the same time that has highlighted that there are autonomous communities which have come to an agreement so that the ópticos-optometristas have more paper in this. “The PP has brought a proposal for the prevention of amblyopia or lazy eye, with an early diagnosis can be treated in children,” he added.

The General Council of Ópticos-Optometristas schools has proposed, among other things, for reasons of health security, modify the consideration of the sunglasses of EPI to medical device, as well as a regulation of the single sunglasses, or a normalization and support among health sectors dedicated to primary care in ocular and visual health in the field of solar protection.

The spokesman of the PP in the Health Committee, Mario Mingo, has been detailed for its part that, during this legislature, is working together with the General Council of Ópticos-Optometristas schools in the possible application and development of the medicines Act, in relation to various drugs that are needed for their usual work.
