Burgos, 2011-October the ethical problems at the beginning and end of life focus the main debates of the Bioethics course that the Bioethics Institute Humanities (IBH) of the Spanish society of physicians in primary care (SEMERGEN) held from 3 to 6 October in Burgos and which they are attended by more than 50 experts.

According to the course Coordinator and President of the IBH, Dr. José Hernández Úrculo, the objective of this course, that itinerant nature, it is to inform primary care professionals the most novel aspects on the subjects of ethics, ethics and bioethics, so in vogue at present ”.

In that regard, and in connection with the recent controversy over the law of death Digna, Dr. Hernández Úrculo points out that one of the main problems is that the generalization of the registry of advance directives and living will is necessary ”. According to the expert, clear rules on both sides would avoid many problems that currently occur in deciding in extreme cases of terminally ill patients.

During the course will be also discussed those aspects bioethical relating to the principle of life. In this regard, the expert points out that is needed a clear and consensual rule with all the parties involved (medical professionals, lawyers and administrations) to regulate the voluntary interruption of pregnancy and the conscientious objection of the professionals in this respect ”.

Spanish society of physicians in primary care (SEMERGEN)

SEMERGEN is the pioneer of primary care in Spain, with 37 years of experience.
