The official College of Dietitians and nutritionists in the Valencian Community (CODiNuCoVa) supports pharmacists in the Valencian Community threatened by the Government’s plan to liberalise the pharmacies.

Spain, January 2013.- the draft of the draft law promotes a model of pharmacy in which raw economic and commercial interest to quality care to the patient and citizen.

CODiNuCoVa, Member of the Valencian health Union which brings together health professional associations in the province of Valencia and which represents more than 45,000 members, want to show their support for the official College of pharmacists against the content of the draft document of the Ministry of economy and competitiveness of date December 20, which includes the general lines of the draft bill on professional services and, most importantly, by the deletion of the reservation of ownership and ownership of pharmacies the pharmacist.

Since the CODiNuCoVa are convinced that the figure of the pharmacist is essential in the composition of the multidisciplinary health teams, widely recommended by the World Health Organization because they provide better care to the sick, as well as an improvement of the health, well-being and quality of life of citizens.

So a change in the current pharmaceutical structure would undermine the aspects relating to the care provided by these professionals and themselves due to the socio-economic situation in which we find ourselves. In addition to that a high percentage they would no longer be independent professionals to rely on brands and commercial distributors where imperarían economic interests and sales against health and the promotion of the same.

For all these reasons and in order to unite efforts together, ensuring the interest of the society we joined the withdrawal of any point of the draft law that refers to pharmacies and medicines in these terms.
