The Foundation Seve Ballesteros has announced the opening of a public call for funding of a research project in brain tumors will be developed in a manner associated or integrated into the laboratory which has this entity at the National Center for cancer research (CNIO). The selected project will receive 100,000 euros per year for a maximum of up to five years.

Reported to have been the authors of this call for help candidates must have as a main objective provide new advances in the knowledge of this pathology “thanks to its innovative and clearly translational character”, developed by researchers with a consolidated experience and offer collaboration with clinical units with experience in the treatment of brain tumors.

The Scientific Committee of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation, composed of academic and research professionals and led by Dr. Cristóbal Belda, scientific director of the Foundation, together with the scientific direction of the National Center for cancer research (CNIO), will be responsible to appoint the winner.

Also, the project to be financed must undergo annual assessments to verify its implementation and, once completed, submit the corresponding scientific memory.

The announcement of this call is possible thanks to funds raised by the Seve Ballesteros Foundation with the celebration of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation challenge, a golf tournament for solidarity purposes whose first edition took place last year.

For the second edition there are registered over 140 fields of Spain, which had been joined for the first time two foreign fields in Bali (Indonesia) and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic), and it is expected that it involved more than 11,000 fans.
