The University of the patients and the Grünenthal Foundation sign an agreement to combat pain with a classroom specifically.

-the signing of the cooperation framework agreement has been signed by the Josep Laporte Foundation within the project of the University of patients and the Grünenthal Foundation, launch the classroom Grünenthal pain Foundation

-The objective of this agreement is to identify the needs of patients, providing them and their families and caregivers access to information that helps them manage the pain

-La Fundación Grünenthal, within the framework of the classroom, has been launched during the month of October in Barcelona two training courses for patients and caregivers

Barcelona, 2011-October the Foundation Josep Laporte, with the collaboration of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and within the framework of the University of patients, has signed an agreement with the Grünenthal Foundation to launch the Grünenthal Foundation classroom of pain. It is an initiative that aims to help patients, families and caregivers to information and access to quality resources adapted to their information needs, help them to participate in the process of decision-making with regard to their health in the field of pain.

Dr. Albert j. Jovell, director of the University of the patients, has indicated the importance of the creation of this classroom, since the pain is a subjective element and one of the symptoms worse takes patient because it apart from being a sign reminiscent of diseasein three dimensions: how individual, family and social environment ”.

For its part, Norberto Villarrasa, director of the Foundation Grünenthal has stressed that since its inception in 2000, the Foundation Grünenthal aim has been to improve the quality of life of patients with pain. So we establish collaborations with the most prestigious associations and academic, medical and administrative institutions, and these collaborations result has been the creation of the Grünenthal Foundation classroom of pain. This project aportaremos our experience in the development of activities aimed at improving deal with pain by raising awareness of this serious health problem and training, both for health professionals as the patients themselves and their families ”.

Among the first activities that have launched within the framework of classroom Foundation Grünenthal of pain, is conducting two training courses for chronic patients and caregivers. The first of these was launched on 5 October and on Tuesday began the second. The two courses are held in the EAP Vallcarca-Sant Gervasi in Barcelona with a duration of six weeks and are taught by staff of the University of patients trained and accredited by Stanford University.

The course aims to enhance the role of the patient as responsible for the care of their health. Health care is not only related to the health sector and requires another type of statements knowing that the patient who continues such programmes is taken care of much better, is controlled and complies with the therapy, well understood treatments. All this is possible, following an effective methodology based on the identification of core competencies that a patient must have and a training in the transmission of these skills through specific methodologies ”, indicates the DRA.
