Those affected by retinitis pigmentosa donate 5,500 euros for the Usher syndrome research

Valencia, 2012-June The Association of people affected by retinitis pigmentosa in the Valencian Community has donated 5,500 euros to the research team of diseases neurosensoriales leads the doctor José María Millán of the Institute research health (IIS) faith of Valencia and the Centre of biomedical research in network for rare diseases (CIBERER).

The funds will be allocated to the research of syndrome of Usher, affecting 4.2 of every 100,000 citizens and disease is the commonest cause of genetic origin deaf.

La Asociación de Afectados por Retinosis Pigmentaria de la Comunidad Valenciana, que agrupa a 360 familias, “tuvo muy claro desde el principio cuál era el mejor destino, que a su vez había recibido de la Caixa”, explicó su presidenta, Almudena Amaya, en el acto de entrega del donativo. “We have 20 years of collaboration with the doctor Millán and know that he will make good use of the funds and invest them where more productive are”, said.

Millán, for its part, stressed the sacrifice posed to the Association donate funds for research with all the social work must be carried out. “I want to thank the times to make this donation,” he stressed.
