training course in multidisciplinary management in patients with ELA home.

Andalusia, February 2012.- comprehensive care to patients of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) and their families is becoming a matter of major importance for society as a whole. For this reason, the Iavante Foundation, entity dependent on the Ministry of health, will some training courses in multidisciplinary management at the home of patients with ALS. This program is designed for:

-medical primary care

-primary care nurses

-nurses of the General services of hospital care and different emergency devices with basic training in palliative care

-professional home-based palliative care.

The objective is to provide to this broad group of professionals, knowledge and skills that facilitate the human and quality care to patients with ELA at home.

Other specific objectives are:

-identify the physical and emotional needs of the patient with ELA and his family.

-Acquire the necessary knowledge for the adequate evaluation and monitoring of symptoms in patients with ALS and their families.

-Incorporate skills in the management of the non invasive mechanical ventilation (VMNI), cannulas of tracheostomy and percutaneous endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG).

-To acquire knowledge about the importance of planning early in the patient with ELA.

Courses are taught in Granada and Seville, with flexible dates between February and March, 1 day on-site at the end of the course (in hours of morning and afternoon) and 21 days elearning. Total 32 hours.

Number of students per course: 24 maximum and minimum 16 to run it. Each centre may propose a certain number of professionals or promote them on their own enrolment. The selection of students will be according to the order of arrival. To obtain the application for registration to complete by the Centre or the interested professional.

Free course to the applicant Center and students. Pending accreditation by ACSA. Iavante provides the necessary materials for the completion of the course.
