Tunisia, destination leader of Thalassotherapy.

Spain, September 2010.- the ancestral tradition in the use of thermal waters and the innovation in their centers positioned the country as a pioneer in health and beauty tourism

Hotel, resorts and spas of the best in the world, existing legislation infrastructure to control the quality of this treatment, years of experience and the purity of the Tunisian waters, both of the Mediterranean Sea as the underground, make Tunisia a destination ideal for Thalasso-therapy or treatment of human ageing through the virtues of water and nutrients.

Tunisia, represented in the International Society of Medical Hydrology and Climatology, becomes one of the main world destinations of Thalassotherapy. Committed to the guarantee of the highest quality of its facilities, the country has a set of rules – Decree 92-1297-laying down the criteria for the introduction, design and operation of the Thalassotherapy centres, still under the tutelage of the ministries of tourism and health.

Thalassotherapy is mainly based on the healing and therapeutic use of water and all its derivatives marine (seaweed, mud, salt, flows …) for various health and beauty treatments: commissioning, anti-stress, heavy anti-piernas, tobacco cessation, weight loss, to combat arthritis and rheumatism, biolifting, pressoterapia, celluliterelaxation, postpartum or disorders of the skin, the respiratory and circulatory, apparatus among others.

Since antiquity, Tunisia uses its marine natural resources therapeutic purposes, of which attests to the site of the Roman Thermae of Antoninus in Carthage. Today, thanks to a policy of awareness raising and environmental protection, resources are rationally exploited and adapted to meet the different needs according to the value of its therapeutic qualities.

For this reason, the territory has more than 50 centers of Thalassotherapy distributed from North to South-East of the country. Carthage Tabarka, Hammamet, Sousse, Monastir, Port El Kantaoui, Mahdia or Djerba Zarzis provide the necessary infrastructure for these centers of relaxation and well-being with a capacity to accommodate 6,400 tourists per day. Tunisia Thalasso centres meet international standards while they fit to the Arab culture and physiognomy of the cities that host, which gives them, in addition, tourist connotations that are based on its architectural beauty.

Since 2005, the number of tourists who choose Tunisia for this type of therapy has grown exponentially. Despite the recent riots, the current figure has increased from 250,000 to more than 700,000 people.
