Madrid, November 2011- El Dr. Ángel Villamor, Director of the unit of trauma and recovery advanced at the Hospital USP San Jose and Medical Director of the clinical iQtra, conducted last Friday, 18 November, a hip Arthroscopy to treat shock femoroacetabular in a young patient. Surgery attended live from the same premises of the 120 Hospital specialists in Traumatology and orthopedic surgery from all Spain.

In surgery, Dr. Villamor was accompanied by the Dr. Dean k. Matsuda (Los Angeles, USA), one of the leading specialists in the boarding by Arthroscopy of this pathology.

Femoroacetabular clash was described at the end of the 20th century but has not treated properly until the early years of this century and affects 15% of the population, constituting the first cause of arthrosis of hip in young patients. It is estimated that early diagnosis could prevent 70% of the hip prosthesis which are implemented to patients of less than 50 years.

Retransmission of the surgery has taken place in the framework of the III Master Class Nycomed on hip arthroscopic surgery which this year hosted the Hospital USP San Jose in Madrid.
