Madrid, February 2013- the 96.7% of healthcare professionals believe that they can provide solutions to prevent the privatization of management in Madrid.

Also, 82% believed that the privatization experiences in other countries have proven ineffective. They are data of a survey, in which 3.028 health professionals have participated, included in the Madrid platform we are all that the Spanish society of family medicine and community (semFYC) launched last December to show their support for professionals who have expressed their opposition to the decision of the Government of the community of Madrid of privatising the management of six hospitals and 27 outpatient. Of those surveyed, 76% are family physicians, 10% belongs to other specialties, 6.7% are nurses and a 3.7% plays other health professions. A 91.6% said that it supported the decision by the directors of health centers to present his resignation to the Ministry of health.

in the opinion of the President of semFYC, Dr. Josep Basora, we find ourselves facing a new scenario in which the role of practitioners is key. It is not possible to imagine a SNS without the participation of physicians. Long time we have been asking to have a greater involvement in clinical management.

Specifically in the field of primary health care already work in our country some experiences that have achieved good results, although each autonomous community shall implement those more in line with its idiosyncrasies and always counting with practitioners in defining the model that is most appropriate. From semFYC we have spent years fighting because our main task are clinical events, and spend less time on bureaucratic tasks that today occupy 25% of our work ”.

Another of the results of the survey is that the 89.5% considered bad or very bad law approved in the community of Madrid. Are absolutely inadequate measures that endanger the viability of public ”, underlines Dr. Basora.

also ” – continues – they are not backed by any data that allows to infer the greater efficiency of the model proposed, nor back have no economic studies showing that it will produce savings that is proclaimed. What’s more: some previous experiences in our healthcare environment seriously question the efficiency of the management private public health centers ”.

Madrid are all

Madrid are all is the platform that semFYC launched last month to seek support from Madrid professionals. As says its President, Madrid are all because changes that are occurring in this community can have an impact on statewide ”. In survey we have also collected samples of support professionals that weeks ago are showing their disagreement with such measures.

This rejection of semFYC to the measures adopted by the community of Madrid is in line with the values that defends this scientific society and who include the commitment with patients and with the society and also that through family medicine contribute to the effectivenessefficiency, viability and fairness of the SNS.
