Spain, March of 2013. The Ad Qualitatem Foundation has presented within the framework of the 3rd National Conference on the safety of the patient in accident and emergency, held in Zaragoza, the quality standard to establish accreditation standards for hospital emergency services. Manager to publicize the Semes-Ad Qualitatem accreditation model has been the auditor of the Foundation, José Antonio Moreno Ruíz, who also outlined the current situation of sanitary accreditation, its objectives, its methodology and its results and consequences and has presented an example of accreditation of emergency service and the method of puntuacion standards.

Thus, over two hundred attendees, among them, the main directors of emergency services, knew in detail the characteristics and advantages of the new label.

The standard, which has been developed together with the Spanish society of health emergency medicine and is based on the model of accreditation Shemesh services of emergency hospital, existing since 2006. It consists of 400 standards, divided into 9 criteria and sub-criteria 32 – according to the structure of the European quality – management model.

These standards, clearly defined, allow hospital emergency services professionals a complete and exhaustive exercise of self-assessment, which must be formalised and completed with a double assessment, which shall be carried out by analysts and Ad Qualitatem Shemesh, which allows these services get, according to the given scorean external accreditation, of the Foundation Ad Qualitatem and Shemesh in five different quality levels.
