Zaragoza, March 2012.- La Cooperativa Farmacéutica Aragonesa, Aragofar, has been awarded the work that has developed, in cooperation with pharmacists without borders, in four health centres in the Colombian capital and which has facilitated the access to medicines they need 30,000 direct beneficiaries of the work.

The project the pharmacy service improvement in four health centres in Bogotá ” has been recognized by the newspaper mail pharmacist as one of the best initiatives of the pharmacy of the year, in particular, in the category of projects Solidarios and patronage.

With these awards, the means of communication of reference in the sector wants to recognize the work of those individuals, institutions and enterprises, which their input, ideas and projects, they have contributed to improving the world of pharmacy, pharmaceutical care and health throughout 2011.

The award has been received by the President of Aragofar, Manuel Espuny, who has been accompanied by the managing director, Fernando Castillo, in a ceremony held in the channel theaters of Madrid and has chaired the Minister of health, Ana Mato. Espuny has been very happy with the obtaining of the prize, but above all, by the results: we are very proud because he has really done much with our contribution, and we are impressed and excited with the response and the gratitude of the people ”.

the project has served to unify the work of five institutions into a single network of pharmaceutical assistanceensuring that patients receive the necessary medicines to restore their health.

Castillo explained that the Governing Council decided to choose this project because levels of violation and needs of the Colombian population are of a systemic character and between this series of shortcomings are the difficulty of enjoying an adequate health system and the procurement of medicines by other types of external causes as for example costs, the distances to get them and the range of essential medicines that are not included in their health plans ”.

The five institutions involved, Colombian Foundation of community services, Health Center San Camilo, Center Health John Bonal, Association of parents of family our Lady of peace (Asopaz), and the foundation of preventive care and Social inclusion Cares, are found in the most depressed belts of the capitalwhere is it lacks adequate sanitary conditions and interventions of the State are insufficient.

Thanks to this project was implemented a warehouse and improved the service of pharmacy with the provision of furniture, medical, sanitary and instrumental material to the medical service of the centers of San Camilo, John Bonal and Asopaz, also settled a health care service general external and a first aid kit at the Centre of health Cares. The staff of the five centres in management of networks of pharmaceutical assistance were also trained.

As a result, has managed to improve the basic needs in the field of health of the population served in health centres by increasing to 85% the degree of access to prescribed drugs, and has been implementing a comprehensive system of pharmaceutical assistance that ensures the rational use of the medicinal product for the population.
